Israel Cook is the founder and lead author of Princess Planet. He launched this project a few years ago inspired by his daughter’s love of princess stories and his frustration with the lack of authentic, diverse representation in children’s entertainment. Seeing a gap in the marketplace, he chose to create a solution rather than wait for others to act, shaping a brand that centers inclusivity and positive representation for young readers.
“Any parent with a daughter can relate to the challenge of finding children’s content that reflects true cultural diversity,” says Israel Cook, CEO of Princess Planet. “I started Princess Planet so our daughters can see themselves, their friends, and their classmates as princesses.” This commitment to visibility and positive representation guides every Princess Planet project, from storytelling to product design.
Princess Planet is a children’s entertainment brand focused on providing culturally diverse content across books, toys, and apparel. The brand’s core mission is to ensure that children encounter inclusive, well-researched stories and characters in their everyday lives. To that end, Princess Planet recently released three new books—two story books and a coloring book—timed for the holiday season, with additional products and expansions planned for release soon.
The initial book collection introduces sixteen distinct characters from the Princess Planet universe. Each princess blends elements of imagination and realism, inhabiting a world that is both colorful and grounded in real-world geography and history. Stories emphasize curiosity, a love of learning, and respect for language and culture. The narratives are designed to be adventurous and accessible while teaching children about different places and traditions in an age-appropriate way.
